Azerbaijan and Turkey both won two gold medals on the first day of the women's wrestling finals at the 2024 European Championships. And it was no surprise to see Azerbaijan's Mariya Stadnik top the podium for the 10th time in her career. 

Bulgaria's Bozhidar Andreev returned to his best form to top of the European podium in the men's -73 kg category for the first time in five years.

United World Wrestling (UWW) announced on 13th February that it has lifted the suspension of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) with immediate effect.

Seven Russian freestyle wrestlers have been denied visas by the Romanian embassy in Russia. The Russian Wrestling Federation (RWF) announced its freestyle wrestling squad for the 2024 European Championships a few days ago, but only Magomedov (61 kg), Rashidov (65 kg) and Kurbanov (92 kg) were granted visas.

The final day of the 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent produced the biggest surprise of the tournament. Three Olympic medallists were among just seven competitors in the final two weight classes of the championships.

Uzbekistan won its first gold medal at the 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships to the delight of the home crowd in Tashkent as Tokyo 2020 champion Akbar Djuraev became the Asian champion in the 109kg category.

The president of the Russian Judo Federation, Sergey Soloveychik, is still unsure about the status of Russian judokas at Paris 2024. In December 2023, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that Russian and Belarusian athletes will be able to compete at Paris 2024 as neutral athletes.

Jong Chun Hui was the last North Korean weightlifter to step onto the platform at the Yunusabad Sports Complex in Tashkent at the 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships. The other 10 North Koreans won gold medals over the first five days of the competition.
