Eterli Liparteliani won the women's -57 kg at the 2024 Judo Tbilisi Grand Slam to the delight of the Georgian crowd, but it was not her only success on the first day of competition.

Omar Yaser Ismail made history over the weekend at the Asian Qualifying Tournament in Tai'an, China, becoming the first Palestinian taekwondo athlete to earn a ticket to the Olympic Games.

The Mfandena Gymnasium in Yaounde recently hosted the 2024 SAMBO edition of the Grand Prix Jean Paul Manuelle tournament, in conjunction with the opening of the 2024 Sambo season, reports the Cameroon Tribune.

The Asian Taekwondo Qualifiers took place on 15-16 March in Tai'an, China, with 16 finalists securing their places at Paris 2024. Asian champion Song Zhaoxiang (China) and runner-up Arian Salimi (Iran) reached the men's +80 final. Both won Olympic licences. Song became the sixth Chinese taekwondo athlete to earn an Olympic berth, and China will have the most athletes in Paris.

Canadian wrestling legend and Rio 2016 gold medallist Erica Wiebe has announced her retirement. The 34-year-old from Stittsville, Ontario, also won a bronze medal at the 2018 World Championships and was a two-time Commonwealth Games champion.

On the 9th and 10th of March, the European Cup tournament of the Ju-Jitsu European Union took place in Westerlo, Belgium, with Dutch athletes as the main protagonists.
