The Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts will change the set-up for its international amateur MMA competitions from a ring to a fenced 'MMA Arena' to continue its 'athlete first' approach, following a decision made by the GAMMA Executive Board at its first full meeting as a new board.

Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts President Alexander Engelhardt and Director General Peter Stafford will lead a small delegation to the SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit in Birmingham, UK next week.

The Dutch Combat Sports Association (NVB) has given its support to the international governing body Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) in the organisation of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as a demonstration discipline at the 2023 African Games in Accra, Ghana.

African national federation presidents and mixed martial arts representatives met at the recent 2023 African Games in Accra for a lunch meeting hosted by Global Mixed Martial Arts Association President Alexander Engelhardt and Director General Peter Stafford.

The 2024 GAMMA Pan American Championships will be held in Rosario, Santa Fe Province, Argentina from 5-7 July, with athlete accreditation, official weigh-in and medical clearance taking place on 3 July.

On 8 March, as GAMMA prepares for the 2023 African Games, GAMMA Indonesia (PERTACAMI) was officially recognised by the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) as the national governing body for amateur mixed martial arts.

The landmark African Games' Mixed Martial Arts tournament has already concluded in Ghana with the finals and medal ceremonies on the continent's Olympic platform.

Mixed Martial Arts competition entered its second day in Ghana on 11 March as the sport is making its debut at the African Games. Talented athletes from Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Libya, Nigeria, Mauritius and Togo competed in the semi-finals at the Bukom Stadium in Accra.

Mixed Martial Arts competition commenced in Accra, Ghana on the evening of the 11 March as the sport made its debut in continental Olympic event, the 2023 African Games.

Eleven African teams have arrived and registered in Accra, Ghana to represent their countries competing in mixed martial arts (MMA) at the African Games. The sport will be included in the programme for the first time from Sunday 10 to Monday 12 March.

MMA competition will be taking place alongside Olympic sports in the African Games 2023 for the very first time in Accra, Ghana from 10-12 March.  

The 13th edition of the four-year, multi-sport event runs from 8-23 March, organised by the African Union (AU), the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC) and the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (SCSA).  

Following the highly successful 2023 GAMMA World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand last December, GAMMA has announced that the 2024 edition of its flagship event will once again take place in Asia, this time in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta.

GAMMA has announced that the 2024 European Championships will be held in Slovakia from 12-20 May, following the signing of a hosting agreement on 9 January. For the first time at a continental championship, a U18 event will be added to the senior programme.

Building on the triumph of the GAMMA World MMA Championships 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand, IFSA Vice President Achilles Ralli recently engaged in discussions with Dr. Meechai Inwood, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand. The focus of their meeting centred around the future development and recognition of amateur MMA in Thailand.

As another edition of the The Global Martial Arts Association (GAMMA) world championships concluded on December 10, Team Kazakhstan once again asserted their dominance, securing the top position on the medals table for the second consecutive World Championships. They clinched an impressive tally of 8 gold medals, bringing their total to 16 in Bangkok.
