Calvin Yee has been appointed Chef de Mission of Team Fiji for the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG), four years after he had a reign as the general manager during the 2019 Pacific Games.

Yee also served as team manager for the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina and 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Fiji have competed in all six editions of the CYG since 2000, when the inaugural competition was held in Edinburgh, Scotland, and managed to win nine medals.

Yee is set to lead a team of eight athletes across four different sports, including athletics, cycling, swimming and triathlon, and hopes to get an invite to the rugby sevens competition, where they would have to call up more members.

The Fijian team will be hoping for more medals at the 2023 edition, due to be held in Trinidad and Tobago from August 4 to 11.

The CYG is open to athletes aged 14 to 18.

Seven sports are due to feature at the edition in Trinidad and Tobago, which was due to take place in 2021, before being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
