The organisers of the Paris Olympics have promised a "great national party", but with just 100 days to go, France's divisive politics and gloomy mood are casting a shadow over the anticipation.

The total cost of the Paris Olympics remains uncertain, with differing views on whether it will exceed initial estimates, making it seem expensive, or appear relatively affordable compared to recent Games.

Since Paris launched its bid to host the Olympic Games, which it successfully secured in 2017, the project has undergone numerous changes by the organisers and government authorities.
