October 28 - Mike Fennell (pictured), the President of the Commonwealth Games Federation (GCF), will  hold talks with Suresh Kalmadi, chairman of the New Delhi 2010 Games organising committee, tomorrow to try to resolve the row that is threatening to damage preparations for next year's event.

Earlier this month Kalmadi called for Mike Hooper, the chief executive of the CGF, to be sacked after claiming that he was "useless" and "an impediment" to the smooth functioning of the organising committee.

Fennell and Kalmadi have already held informal talks and will meet again after the start of the Queen's Baton Relay at Buckingham Palace tomorrow.

Fennell said: "We always have issues to resolve but we are talking."

Fennell claimed that he did not want to detract attention from the Relay, which will feature Sebastian Coe, the chairman of London 2012.

He said: "The Baton and its journey are not only symbolic in many ways but is more than that as it enables so many people to be a part of the Games,.

"It is very important for all of us."
