The FIS Council convened in Reykjavik ahead of the 55th International Ski Congress to determine the upcoming hosts of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. Several pivotal decisions were made, notably concerning the championships set for 2029 and 2031.

Narvik, Norway, has been selected as the host city for the 2029 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. In the initial voting round, Narvik secured 11 votes, surpassing Val Gardena's eight and Soldeu's single vote. 

With its distinctive position above the Arctic Circle, boasting breathtaking fjord vistas and demanding slopes, Narvik promises a one-of-a-kind experience for athletes and spectators alike.

Meanwhile, Val Gardena, Italy, has been chosen as the venue for the 2031 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. Following a rigorous selection process, Val Gardena garnered 14 votes in the second round, surpassing Soldeu's six votes. Renowned for its stunning Dolomite mountains and storied skiing heritage, Val Gardena offers an ideal setting for this esteemed competition.

Apart from the Alpine World Ski Championships, the Council unveiled that Tignes, France, has been selected to host the FIS Para Alpine World Ski Championships in 2027. This demonstrates the Council's commitment to promoting diverse categories of ski events on a global scale.

With these declarations, the FIS Council has charted an exhilarating course for the future of Alpine skiing. Val Gardena and Narvik are poised to deliver captivating competitions for both athletes and enthusiasts.
