All three hosts in the men's competition achieved their Olympic goal. Spain finished top of its group in Granollers with Slovenia coming second, Hungary qualified in second place in Tatabanya with Noirway first and finally Germany also finished second in Hanover with Croatia first. They joined the other six teams that qualified earlier: hosts and reiginign Olympic champions France, current World champions Denmark, Japan, Argentina, Sweden and Egypt. The men's and women's draw will both take place in Paris on 16 April. 

Hosts and also reigning Olympic champions France, current World champions Denmark, South Korea, Angola, Brazil and Norway have already booked their places in the French capital this summer. The other six participating national teams will be decided this week in Torrevieja (Spain), Debrecen (Hungary) and Neu-Ulm (Germany) - a great success for the national federations of Spain, Hungary and Germany, because they organised the men's pre-Olympic tournaments and now the women's. 

Spain, coached by former Champions League winner Ambros Martín, will be fighting for the top two spots in a tough group against two teams that beat them at the last World Championship: Czech Republic (30-22) and Netherlands (29-21). The fourth team in the group is Argentina. "Las Guerreras" have Shandy Barbosa, one of their most important frontline players, back in the line-up and the "Orange" are the favourites with stars such as Malenstein, Van der Heijdn, Polman and the magical Louis Abbing. The Czech Republic also has big names such as Jerabkova, Cholevova and Veronika Mala. 

Germany, who finished sixth at the last World Championships, will have centre back Alina Grijseels as one of its referents in an also tough group against the Balkan nations of Montenegro (seventh at the World Championships) and Slovenia (11th) with the astonishing Ana Gros. Finally, Paraguay do not appear to have many options. 

Great Britain will try to pull off a near-impossible miracle in Tatabanya, where hosts Hungary, with right-winger Győri-Lukács, will be pitted in a supposed three-team play-off for Paris 2024 against favourites Sweden (fourth at the last World Cup with right-winger Nathalie Hagman, left-back Jamina Roberts and IHF 2023 Player of the year Linn Blohm. The third team with real chances is Japan, the current Asian runner-up.
