The General Assembly of the UAE National Olympic Committee has approved the sports tournament programme for 2024. This includes the First Gulf Youth Games, which will be hosted by the UAE from 16 April to 2 May. This will be one of the most innovative and attractive events of the year.

There will also be the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris, the First Gulf Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Riyadh in September and the Sixth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Thailand in November this year. A programme of the highest quality and diversity.

The General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee, held last Thursday in Dubai, was chaired by Sheikh Rashed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the Olympic Committee, and attended by Ahmed Al Falasi, Vice President of the Olympic Committee, Head of the Executive Office, Fares Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the Committee, and representatives of the General Assembly members and various media.

The meeting was used to approve the Administrative Report for 2023, the Auditor's Report and to present the estimated operating budget for 2024 and the estimated sports participation budget for the same year. It was also confirmed that the UAE Luge Federation will be a member of the Olympic Committee.

Rashed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi said that the General Assembly of the UAE Olympic Committee "has provided the Olympic Movement in the United Arab Emirates with a solid foundation for a fruitful national sporting journey since its establishment in 1979."

"It has remained the main supporter of all its decisions, initiatives and programmes, which in turn have enhanced the country's position and presence in major sporting events and occasions," he stressed.

"The National Olympic Committee, since its inception and with the support of wise leadership, has sought to formulate innovative methods and build long-term relationships to ensure progress towards a prosperous future for the Olympic Movement and all its components," Rashed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi added.

He also highlighted its "membership in a number of relevant continental and international Olympic institutions". Sheikh Rashed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi stressed "the role of the National Olympic Committee in preparing and educating generations on the importance of spreading the principles of noble sport, which are in line with sound social behaviours and practices."

The Vice President of the National Olympic Committee encouraged everyone to take part in the various events, starting with the inaugural Gulf Youth Games, organised by the UAE. 3,500 athletes are expected to take part. Not forgetting, of course, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. UAE athletes will represent the country in three sports.
