The General Authority of Sports in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Authority of Sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain to collaborate in the field of sports and benefit from shared experiences.


The MoU was signed in Abu Dhabi in the esteemed presence of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the General Authority of Sports, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Bahraini Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and the President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, along with His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority, and Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the UAE. In addition, His Excellency Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Hussain, the Director General of the General Authority of Sports, and other sports officials from both parties also participated in the event.

The aim of the MoU is to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of sports between the signing nations, using experience and knowledge exchange in various sports disciplines.

Within this framework, they seek to learn best practices for developing sports programs and initiatives in mutual collaboration with the relevant organizations of both countries. Additionally, the parties will exchange relevant experiences and audiovisual materials in different sports fields. They will explore opportunities for collaboration in sports science, athlete preparation, and sports personnel training, along with the discovery of new sports talents. This enhances the presence of both countries in sports with highly skilled athletes, especially in individual sports.

Concrete actions include the establishment of sports personnel training, the organization of national, regional, and international conferences and seminars in both countries, as well as the exchange of programs between institutions, authorities, and sports federations. Of course, the agreement includes collaboration in the celebration of various sports events. Also, among the broad objectives are initiatives in the fields of women's sports, sports for people with disabilities, community sports, Paralympic sports, sports medicine, sports tourism, and anti-doping.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the General Authority of Sports, stated: "The United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain have strong and lasting relations in various fields. This memorandum demonstrates the aspirations of the two sister nations to strengthen their cooperation in various areas, including supporting the sports talents of both countries, promoting the sports sector, exchanging knowledge and experiences to boost potential and athletic capabilities, and increasing opportunities for athletes to succeed."

Furthermore, His Excellency added: "Through this collaboration, we hope to lay the foundations for strengthening our shared visions and creating sustainable grounds for productive cooperation and partnerships between the numerous sports institutions of both nations. We are confident that this MoU will serve as a catalyst for more innovation and growth in the sports industry, contributing to the development of athletic talents, preparing them for numerous competitions, and helping them succeed at the local, national, and international levels."

HH Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed that the MoU not only strengthens the strong relations and fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates but also highlights their joint commitment to advancing in different fields, especially in the sports sector. His Highness emphasized that the agreement reflects the shared aspiration of both nations to promote collaboration in various aspects of the sports industry.

His Highness said: "We are pleased to sign the MoU with the General Authority of Sports in the United Arab Emirates. We are confident that this MoU will contribute to the exchange of experiences and cooperation in all sports fields that will help advance this vital sector. Additionally, we would like to sincerely express our gratitude for the significant progress in all sectors of the United Arab Emirates, especially the sports sector, which experiences more progress and prosperity under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates."

Furthermore, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa thanked for the hospitality and warm reception in the UAE, wishing more progress and prosperity in the United Arab Emirates.

Through this agreement, the sports authorities of both nations aim to exchange programs between institutions and sports federations, collaborate in the maintenance of stadiums and facilities, as well as work together in the field of sports science and player development programs. Additionally, the parties also seek to share ideas, experience, and knowledge about youth training centers as a way to identify athletic talents and improve the presence of sports players in both nations.

The agreement is part of the efforts of the General Authority of Sports to deepen ties and cooperation with sports entities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as well as in relation to other nations worldwide.
