The Japanese national team will finish 2023 at the top of the WBSC/KONAMI Men's Baseball World Rankings, the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) has announced.

After winning the Premier12, the World Baseball Classic and the Olympic Games, the Asian team has maintained its position at the top of the WBSC/KONAMI Men's Baseball World Rankings in the final update of the year.

Japan's score has increased by 225 points to 5,797 following its triumph in the 30th BFA Asian Baseball Championship. The ranking update also includes the results of the Oceania Qualifier for the WBSC U15 Baseball World Cup.

The top 26 men's baseball programmes have remained unchanged, holding their positions in the rankings. The Mexico National Team (4,764) finished the year in second place, while the United States (4,492) secured third place.

Meanwhile, the most improved country was the Philippines (318), which consolidated its position as the most improved programme in the top 30 by moving up four places to 28th.

Other notable climbers include Hong Kong, China (223), which climbed five places to 32nd, and the XXX Asian Baseball Championship's well-performing team, such as Pakistan (155), who climbed 11 places to finish the year at 38th, while Palestine (82) improved nine places to reach an all-time high of 46th.

It is worth noting that the WBSC/KONAMI Men's Baseball World Rankings include 80 programmes from the five Olympic continents, and Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. has extended its global partnership to include the naming rights for the WBSC World Rankings.
