In Samoa and Fiji, there's reason to celebrate as their national teams secured tickets to Paris 2024 by winning the qualifying tournaments at the Oceania Sevens rugby tournament.

Samoa triumphed with a 24-0 victory over Papua New Guinea, showcasing their potential and earning them the opportunity to enjoy a historic moment for their fans next summer in Paris.

In the final match, Papua New Guinea came in ready to pull off a surprise, knowing they had to be on point and that their opponent, Samoa, needed to have an off day for them to have a chance.

Lima opened the scoring in the first half, and tries from Taunuu Niuleavaea and Pelasio Samuelu Niuula virtually sealed the victory. The match was a monologue for Samoa, demonstrating why they were the favorites and the stronger team. Samoa must now leverage this milestone to improve their structures and reach an optimal level to compete with their direct rivals. "I think the hard work has just begun," said Lima, one of Samoa's franchise players, in statements to Stan Sport. Now, Samoa's focus and goals shift towards building a solid player foundation to be ready for the event.

Meanwhile, Fiji and Papua New Guinea took to Ballymore in pursuit of their Olympic ticket in the women's category. Fiji gave no chance in the final and won convincingly with a scoreline of 54-0.
