In anticipation of the 2027 World Archery Championships, World Archery this week completed an on-site evaluation of Nyborg, Denmark's potential as the host city.

The visit, which included an inspection of facilities and discussions with the Danish bid team, sets the stage for Nyborg's ambitious bid to bring the global event to its historic and picturesque location.

World Archery's representative, Thomas Aubert, was greeted by the stunning autumnal scenery of the Danish town, home to the impressive Nyborg Castle (a proposed venue for the event's finals).

The Escandivavian bid, backed by the combined efforts of the town's Mayor, the President of the National Association and the CEO of Sport Event Denmark, gave a detailed presentation that highlighted not only the city's readiness but also its commitment to sustainability and innovation in hosting sporting events.

During his visit, Thomas Aubert commented: "Nyborg Castle in particular is a beautiful place and could be a very nice setting for the finals. Combined with the city's plans to renovate the castle and the interesting history behind it, it could really create a spectacular environment not just for the competition, but for the whole event around the World Archery Championships."

"The Castle is a strong selling point," added Aubert. He emphasised the potential of the city's historic elements and the ongoing renovation of the castle to enhance the championship experience for all.

Mayor Kenneth Muhs highlighted the city's comprehensive planning. "Our commitment is to host an Archery World Championships that reflects a forward-thinking perspective in every aspect, from the athlete experience to the environmental impact and beyond."

Together with the National Archery Federation, Sport Event Denmark, and Destination Fyn, Nyborg is ready to provide a memorable and impressive venue for the World Archery Championships.

"Denmark is proud of its tradition of hosting international events that are intimate, safe and inline with the future of the sports they represent," says Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark.

In his closing remarks, Thomas Aubert smiled and assured that World Archery has "four candidates, so the chances for Nyborg are 25%. Just like any other candidate."

As the evaluation process continues, the Danish bid for the 2027 World Championships awaits further deliberations on its bid to host what could be a landmark event in the international archery calendar.
