More than 200 waterskiers from 35 countries took part across six days of action at the Jack Travers Water Ski School at Sunset Lakes.

The first medals were handed out in the tricks disciplines, with the host nation claiming a one-two in the women’s event.

Erika Lang took gold with a score of 10,400 points in the final to claim a second World Championship gold, with her compatriot Anna Gay taking silver with 9,320.

The podium was completed by Peru’s Natalia Cuglievan Wiese who won bronze scoring 9,970.

In the men’s tricks, gold went to Patricio Font of Mexico with a score of 12,470.

Earlier in the competition he tied his men’s tricks world record when he scored 12,690 points in the elimination round.

Silver went to Louis Duplan-Fribourg of France with 11,980 points, with bronze going to Martin Labra of Chile with 11,610.

The next medals were handed out in the slalom disciplines, with Jaimee Bull of Canada retaining her women’s World Championship title after triumphing with a score of 3.5 buoys at 39.5 feet off.

Two American waterskiers completed the podium, with silver going to Regina Jaquess and bronze to Allie Nicholson.

In the men’s slalom Britain’s Frederick Winther claimed the title, winning a second World Championship title after finishing with a score of four buoys at 41 feet off.

Silver went to Dane Mechler of the US, with bronze going to Stephen Neveu of Canada.

In the women’s jump final, victory went to Belarusian Hanna Straltsova, competing under the IWWF flag, because of the ongoing war of Ukraine.

Russian and Belarusian waterskiers and wakeboarders were banned from competitions until September 2023, when the IWWF Executive Board voted to allow them to compete under its flag provided they met strict criteria, and had their individual applications approved by the IWWF Bureau.

Straltsova made a distance of 183 feet as she earned a first career world title in the discipline.

Silver went to her compatriot Aliaksandra Danisheuskaya, also competing under the IWWF flag, with 176 feet and bronze to Lauren Morgan of the United States with 174 feet.

Ryan Dodd continued his dominance of the men’s jump discipline, as the Canadian won the world title for the fifth time in a row with a distance of 229 feet.

Silver went to Freddy Krueger of the US with 226 feet, with compatriot Taylor Garcia winning bronze with 223 feet.

In the women’s overall event gold went to Straltsova with 2,699.4 points, with silver going to Giannina Bonnemann-Mechler on 2,579.67, and bronze to Jaquess on 2,537.21.

Finally, the men’s overall title was won by Duplan-Fribourg for the first time with a score of 2,726.02.

Silver went to Joel Poland of Britain with 2,692.25, while Canadian Dorien Llewellyn won bronze with 2,654.18.
