Australian Taekwondo has announced its finalists for the 2023 national awards.

Scheduled to take place at the Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough on October 13, the event will also see the opening of the National Championships.

Tokyo 2020 Paralympic bronze medallist Janine Watson has been named master of ceremonies (MC).

She will be joined by Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medallist Lauren Burns, who will present the Athlete of the Year award.

The ceremony will also see Ross Hartnett celebrated with the high-performance coach award being named after him.

Ben Exton replaced Hartnett as the performance director earlier this year.

Liam Sweeney of One Taekwondo, Reba Stewart of Hall's Taekwondo, Juliet Lahood from Global Martial Arts, Leon Sejranovic from Notorious Martial Arts, Bailey Lewis of City West Taekwondo, Carmela Hartnett representing Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan, Sheena Kennedy of Reeves Taekwondo and Ricci Jandu from Flinn Taekwondo Academy are the finalists nominated for the senior athlete award categories.

Tierney's Taekwondo Academy, San Taekwondo and Spirit Taekwondo have been pitched for the community club awards.

Orla Brassil, Grace Civitarese, Bishan Dao, Theresa McCoombes, Andrew Mansi, WendyMurray, Anthony Thunyin, Anuke Warakaulle, and Jacqueline Mannell have been nominated the volunteer awards.

The coach ward category has finalists in Amy Tierney, Sammy Rachele, Mohammad Reza Hassani, Sadhbh Sweeney, Anne Marie Smith, and Jerry Moraitis.

Finally, Muhktar Kadiri, Rebecca Green, Benjamin Flinn, Wayne Mahoney, and Colin Kerr have all made it to the final list for the referee awards.

The National Federation also plans to honour junior athletes and other recognition.

Clubs can buy limited tables for the ceremony until September 30.
