Asian champion Ahora Khateri starred for Iran at the World Cadet Wrestling Championships as the country won the team titles in both freestyle and Greco-Roman, while Japan topped the charts in the women's bouts.

He claimed his country's final gold medal of the event at the Başakşehir Youth and Sports Facility in Istanbul following victory against Armenia's Gor Buniatyan in the under-45-kilograms freestyle category.

Khateri's triumph helped Iran to 156 points in the freestyle team rankings to beat the United States to first place on 126.

Japan's Yamato Ogawa became the nation's first under-17 world champion in freestyle in 2017 when he beat Rohit Rohit of India in the under-51kg freestyle.

Soon after, his feat was emulated by compatriot Akito Maehara who took a 4-1 points victory against Iran's Sajad Pirdayeh in the under-60kg freestyle final.

Despite winning just one gold medal in the Greco-Roman classes, Iran topped the team ranking once again.

Across the 10 weight categories just Payam Ahmadi Balootaki prevailed for the Iranians.

He picked up a commanding 4-0 win over Uzbekistan's Shakhzod Ruziokhunov in the under-48kg decider.

This ensured 25 points to the 113 total which helped to give a narrow lead over Azerbaijan on 108.

Japan dominated the women's wrestling competitions as they took six gold and two silver medals in the 10 tournaments.

The niece of triple Olympic champion Saori Yoshida, Chisato Yoshida won her first under-17 world title in the Turkish city.

In the under-65kg final, she left it late but managed to take the title over home favourite Duygu Gen.

With 15 seconds to go, the 16-year-old pulled off a slide-by takedown to move into the lead before trying to arm-bar her opponent for another two points, securing the 5-1 win.

In total, Japan amassed 200 points while the US were the next best team on 122.
