Germany's Darja Varfolomeev impressed at the final International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup event of the year in Milan with three golds.

Varfolomeev outperformed world champion and Italian home favourite Sofia Raffaeli in the individual all-around competition at the Mediolanum Forum.

She scored 137.200 across the four apparatus, beating Raffaeli by 0.600.

Bulgaria's Stiliana Nikolova claimed bronze with 135.050, meaning the top three consisted of the three medallists at last year's World Championships in Sofia.

Varfolomeev's success continued with the clubs, with which she is world champion, and the ball.

She scored 34.000 with the clubs to beat Raffaeli by 0.500, and 35.850 with the ball which was 1.200 more than Bulgaria's Boryana Kaleyn.

Raffaeli did take a gold at her home World Cup with the hoop.

A score of 35.900 earned her a third victory on this year's circuit, with Ukraine's Viktoriia Onopriienko her closest challenger on 35.250 and Varfolomeev earning bronze with 35.100.

Onopriienko triumphed with the other apparatus as she scored 32.500 with the ribbon, with Kaleyn taking silver on 31.700 and Varfolomeev ensuring she finished with medals in each individual event with 30.500 for bronze.

Hosts Italy earned two of the available group golds in Milan.

Martina Centofanti, Agnese Duranti, Alessia Maurelli, Daniela Mogurean, Laura Paris and Alessia Russo claimed the group all-around gold on a tiebreak after they and Israel scored 69.400.

Italy also triumphed in the three ribbons and two balls final, the same quintet notching a score of 32.500 to narrowly beat Israel by 0.100.

However Shani Bakanov, Eliza Banchuk, Adar Friedmann, Romi Paritzki, Ofir Shaham and Diana Svertsov collected five hoops gold for Israel with 37.500, which was 0.500 more than Italy.
