The Netherlands ended the 2023 World Junior Speed Skating Championships as the best nation with 18 medals, including seven gold, seven silver and four bronze.

United States were the second-best nation with 11 medals overall while Japan finished behind them with five podium spots at the International Skating Union event in Inzell, Germany.

Jordan Stolz dominated the men’s races for the Americans while the Dutch have Angel Daleman to thank.

Stolz took gold in the 500 metres, 1000m, 1500m and starred in the team sprint, bowing out with 142.914 points overall.  

Meanwhile, Daleman was unstoppable in the women's 1000m, 1500m, mass start, team pursuit and team sprint categories.

Her performance earned her 158.636 points overall.

The lone gold medal for Japan came in the women's 3000m race, when Momoka Horikawa claimed the top prize.

Norway, Italy and the Czech Republic also managed to win one gold medal each.

Hosts Germany had a disappointing tournament, finishing last with just one bronze medal, courtesy of the women's team pursuit trio of Maira Jasch, Josephine Schlörb and Melissa Schaefer .
