The International School Sport Federation (ISF) has stressed on the need to promote gender equality and sustainability among young students.

According to the governing body, sport and its values "teach its youngest practitioners that the best way to meet these challenges is to combine cross-disciplinary subjects."

Since the first edition of the She Runs Active Girls' Lead event in 2019, ISF has ensured that these two topics and why it is important for the future of mankind, has been discussed.

In 2019, it signed a partnership with VinylPlus under the slogan "Towards more sustainable sporting events with the help of VinylPlus®" to promote awareness on sustainability.

Since it was formed 50 years ago, ISF has engaged many young girls in sport and has established the Gender Equality Committee.

Speaking at the second She Runs Active Girls' Lead conference event, International Olympic Committee Athletes' Commission chair Emma Terho echoed the need to introduce more schoolgirls into sport.

"School sport can be the only place where a girl can come up and take a part in a sport," Terho said.

"That's why it's important to implement sports in schools, it will help girls to get into professional sport career and get the right education."

According to ISF, sport can bring together young people from different backgrounds to become familiar with the themes most relevant to the development of individuals and of societies.

The second edition of the She Runs Active Girls' Lead event concluded in Brussels on Saturday (September 17).
