The head of the Israeli Taekwon-Do Association, Leonardo Oros-Duek, has been elected President of the All Europe Taekwon-Do Federation.

Oros-Duek defeated Acting President Coos van den Heuvel of The Netherlands in a vote at the European Congress.

The Congress took place in La Nucia in Spain alongside the European Championships.

With coronavirus countermeasures in place, delegates from 36 of the All Europe Taekwon-Do Federation's 37 member nations participated in the election.

"I would like to thank the previous President, Master Coos for a well organised and fair competition," Oros-Duek said following his victory.

"I am very pleased and honoured with my election that places a great responsibility on me to continue and promote Taekwond-Do ITF in Europe, and of course I will continue to work hard to promote and develop Taekwon-Do in all the member states."

Oros-Duek has been active within the martial art as an athlete and coach for many years and currently serves as the treasurer for the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF).

The Israeli is a seventh-dan black belt.

Taekwon-Do is considered a traditional martial art, and distinct from the Olympic sport of taekwondo which is governed by World Taekwondo.
