Folashade_AbuganOctober 15 - Nigerian 400 metres star Folashade Abugan (pictured) has become the third Nigerian athlete to fail a drugs test at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games after she tested positive for testosterone prohormone.

Abugan follows Nigerian teammates Damola Osayemi, who had won the women's 100m, and 110m hurdler Samuel Okon in failing drug tests at the event.

Abugan has been stripped of the two silver medals she won in the women's 400m and 4 x 400m relay team, with the whole Nigerian women's relay team being disqualified.

A Commonwealth Games Federation statement (CGF) said: "The Federation Court has determined that Ms Abugan had committed an anti-doping rule violation.

"Consequently, she has been disqualified from all events she participated in during the Games, with the results nullified.

"This includes her silver medal in the women's 400m. As she was also a member of her country's second placed 4 x 400m relay team, that result is also nullified.

"The silver medal for the woman's 400m will now be awarded to Aliann Tabitha Pompey of Guyana, with the bronze medal going to Christine Amertil of the Bahamas.

"As a consequence of her disqualification, the women's 4 x 400m relay silver medal will now be awarded to England and the bronze medal to Canada.

"The England relay team consisted of Kelly Massey, Victoria Barr, Meghan Beesley and Nadine Okyere.

"The members of the Canadian relay team were Amonn Nelson, Adrienne Power, Vicki Tolton and Carline Muir."

The CGF conducted just under 1,500 drugs tests at the event, with four athletes having tested positive.

Women's 20 kilometres walker Rani Yadav of India was the only non-Nigerian athlete to have failed a test.
