A three-strong gymnastics team consisting of artistic gymnast Naveen Daries and rhythmic gymnasts Grace Lgote and Chris-Marie van Wyk has been added to the line-up, along with seven more athletes in track and field.

They include 10,000 metre runner Stephen Mokoka, a two-time Olympian, shot put thrower Jaco Engelbrecht and hammer thrower Tshepang Makhethe.

Anaso Jobodwana, Clarence Munyai, Henricho Bruintjies and Emile Erasmus, who will make up the 4x100m relay team, have also been selected.

In addition, South Africa have named their men's rugby sevens squad after the announcement of the women's team on January 30.

Tim Agaba, Philip Snyman, Dylan Sage, Kwagga Smith, Werner Kok, Kyle Brown, Branco du Preez, Rosko Specman, Justin Geduld, Cecil Afrika, Seabelo Senatla, Adriaan Nel and Siviwe Soyizwapi are the names on the men's list, while Aseza Hele has been added to the women's roster as a reserve.

In addition to the announcement of the final athletes, the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) have made several coaching and technical appointments across various sports.

SASCOC President Gideon Sam congratulated the athletes on their selections.

"We welcome the final names of the various athletes who will join Team South Africa at the Commonwealth Games," he said, as reported by Sport 24.

"The men's rugby sevens side obviously gives us enormous medal-winning potential and it's also exciting that we are taking a men's 4x100m relay team - which will add another string to our bow.

"Now, with the final selections done and dusted I wish the athletes the very best in their final preparations as they strive to do their best for the rainbow nation and continue our excellent tradition at this event."

SASCOC acting chief executive Patience Shikwambana added: The naming of the final additions to the team as well as the management and coaching staff is yet another piece of the puzzle as we at SASCOC deliver yet another team to a global multi-code event.

"I have every faith that this team will once again bring back medals, do our nation proud, and be great ambassadors at the same time."

South Africa finished seventh in the medals table at Glasgow 2014 with 13 gold, 10 silver and 17 bronze medals.

Middle distance runner Caster Semenya, a two-time Olympic gold medallist, will headline the country's team in Australia.

Gold Coast 2018 will take place from April 4 to 15.
