The Germany Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has created a new internet platform that allows trainers and coaches to search for courses aimed at reducing physical and psychosocial health risks related to sport.

It forms part of the "SPORT PRO HEALTH" programme, which was developed by the DOSB in 2000 together with the German Medical Association.

The programme, supported by the German Gymnastics Federation and the German Swimming Federation, helps sports clubs in establishing health-oriented profiles that in ideal cases manifest themselves into lifelong sports activity for participants.

Its offerings are particularly focused on assisting non-sportsmen and women on their way to a more active life.

The new platform distinguishes the certified courses that meet the standards of Germany’s  National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds.

"We want sport for all, and in particular health for all," said Michael Vesper, chairman of the DOSB.

"In the future, we can support sports clubs under the simplified certification procedure even better."

The DOSB is the non-governmental umbrella organisation of German sport.

It was founded on May 20, 2006, resulting from the merger of the German Sports Confederation (DSB) and the National Olympic Committee for Germany.
