…insidethegames.biz is running a LIVE BLOG from the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest?

Our reporter Patrick Burke has travelled to the Hungarian capital for the flagship event, which is taking place at venues across the city and further afield.

The LIVE BLOG begins today and will cover all of the action as swimming, diving, artistic swimming, open water swimming and water polo events are contested.





It will run until the very end of the competition on July 3, and include all of the swimming finals from the Danube Arena.

The event is an additional World Championships which was only announced by FINA in February.

Fukuoka in Japan had been due to stage the event this year, but requested postponement until 2023 due to the coronavirus crisis.

FINA President Husain Al-Musallam spoke with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to agree upon the staging of the event in Budapest, which ensures a World Championships can take place at last amid much uncertainty.



Our coverage will also include the FINA Extraordinary Congress 2022, which will take place on the sidelines of the World Championships tomorrow.
