AIBA celebrated their 70th Anniversary this week with a glittering Gala Awards Dinner held at Montreux’s Miles Davis Hall.


Attended by the stars of boxing, young and old, and sponsored by TaiShan Sports, the evening was a celebration of boxing’s leading men and women.


This year saw the launch of the new Legend Awards to recognise those boxers whose contribution to the AIBA boxing community is considered outstanding. India’s Mary Kom, France’s Brahim Asloum, Cuba’s Félix Savon and Ukraine’s Wladimir Klitschko were the first to receive this prestigious award.

The late Muhammed Ali was honoured with the Great Contribution Award for being a key figure in boxing and a great influence for boxing and the world.


Best Men’s Boxer 2016 was awarded to Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan, whilst AIBA Ambassador Nicola Adams of Great Britain received Best Women’s Boxer of 2016. Read Nicola’s success story on the Women’s Boxing section.

President C K Wu was presented with a special award in recognition of 10 years service to AIBA.
