The 19-year-old from Northamptonshire scored the highest on four of the six apparatus to finish on 88.1 points with Kristian Thomas second on 86.9 and Luke Folwell claiming bronze on 85.25.

 

Keatings also claimed gold medals in the parallel bars, high bar and floor although he had to settle for second behind Olympic silver medallist Louis Smith on the pommel.

 

Thomas took gold in the vault and Danny Lawrence won on the rings.

 

Keatings had last won the British all-round title in 2007.

 

He said: "It's a great honour to win the British title and I'm delighted I have been able to continue the good form from the World Championships.

 

"My routines were pretty sold although I'm not very happy with the pommels so will need to take a look at that mistake and work on it."

 

Keatings has had little time to reflect on his success at winning the silver medal in the World Championships at the O2 last month as on Sunday he competed in the Champions Trophy in Hanover, where he pulled off one of the biggest victories of his career .

 

He said: "Since the World Championships I haven't really had any time to reflect as I've been back in the gym working hard, hopefully I'll get a break towards the end of the year and I think it will be then that I can proudly look back on my achievement.

 

"The 2010 European Championships is the next big aim for me, I know there will be increased pressure and expectation but I think I can deal with that and hope to continue to improve and produce good results."
