BRITISH TRIATHLON has begun advertising for a head coach to help the team prepare for the London 2012 Olympics, which could include top competitors like World bronze medalllist Alastair Brownlee (pictured).

British Triathlon claim that the role is "a unique opportunity" as Britain prepares for "an Olympics on home soil".

The advert, posted on the British Triathlon website, said that the main aspect of the role will be to "deliver medals at the Olympic Games in 2012".

For all its success at the World and European Championships, Britain has never won an Olympic medal since the sport made its debut at the Sydney Games in 2000.

The sport in 2012 is set to be one of the most televisual events of the Games as it is due to take place in Hyde Park with its stunning backdrop.

The advert says: "Working in partnership with the performance manager [Heather Williams] and talent development coach, the head coach will support the development and implementation of the four year British Triathlon Olympic strategy and ensure that quality consistent coaching exists throughout the performance pathway.

"Applicants will have significant experience of elite coaching and substantial experience of high performance sport as an athlete, coach, or administrator."

The salary for the post is described in the advert as "negotiable".

The closing date for applications is December 15 and interviews are due to be held on December 18 and 19.

A second interview is scheduled for January 4 and 5.
