alt THE British Triathlon Federation have today named Dan Salcedo (pictured), Chris Jones and Ben Bright as their world class performance head coaches.

All will work under Heather Williams, who was appointed last month as the new performance programme director.

Salcedo has been appointed head coach of men’s performance, the pinnacle of a triathlon career stretching back  to 1988.

A founder member of Loughborough University Triathlon Club, he has been employed as the head coach at British Triathlon's world class high performance centre in Loughborough since February 2000 during which time he had  coached numerous elite athletes to world, European and national titles, including Will Clarke, Vanessa Raw and Jodie Swallow.

In 2005 he was selected by UK Sport to their prestigious elite coach plan; a development programme for coaches with the potential to be the driving force behind home medal success in 2012.

The new head coach of women’s performance is Jones, who has worked in coaching roles with British Triathlon for the past eight years.

He has a wealth of major international event experience which includes two Olympic and two Commonwealth Games.

Jones helped to develop the National Training Centre in Bath before moving to Wales where he set up the Swansea High Performance Centre.

During this time he has coached Leanda Cave to World Championship victory in 2003 and Anneliese Heard to two World Junior titles in 1999 and 2000.

He currently coaches Andrea Whitcombe, Helen Tucker and Marc Jenkins.

Jones is also a member of the International Triathlon Union's international coaching group who meet to discuss and advise on international performance issues.

Bright, a New Zealander, will head up the talent confirmation aspect of British Triathlon’s world class performance team.

As an athlete Bright won the World Junior Championships in 1994 and competed in the first Olympic Games triathlon in Sydney in 2000, where he finished 38th.

After the Olympic Games, Bright left New Zealand to coach in Hong Kong for four years, first with the Hong Kong Triathlon Federation, and later with a professional swimming club, where he coached athletes to the 2004 Olympic Games.

Bright moved to the UK in 2005 to coach at British Triathlon’s High Performance Centre in Loughborough, following his appointment as assistant coach.

During this time he has worked across the spectrum of the World Class and TASS programmes coaching athletes at all levels.

In 2006, Bright coached Tim Don to his ITU Triathlon World Championship victory.
