Husband and wife Murilo Rosa and Fernanda Tavares have become the latest celebrities to commit their support to the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB).

Rosa, an actor, and Tavares, a model, will serve as a "godfather and godmother" and work in ambassador roles to promote Brazilian athletes.

The pair have been married for 15 years and as part of the deal Rosa has already presented at the COB's Hall of Fame event in São Paulo, while wearing Brazilian colours.

"It is an honour for me to receive this invitation," said 52-year-old Rosa, who is an accomplished athlete in taekwondo and has numerous television, film and theatre credits.

"I am a complete lover of sports.

"There is nothing that moves me more than seeing the talent and effort of a great athlete being rewarded by an achievement.

"I'm really happy.

"I am a taekwondo ambassador in Brazil, I already experienced this desire for the Olympic dream in 1992.

"I wanted to participate in the Barcelona Olympic Games, but receiving this invitation from the Brazilian Olympic Committee to be godfather to our heroes, to Brazilian athletes, is indeed a realisation.

"Thank you very much, let's do it Brazil, and count on me."

Forty-two-year-old Tavares is described by the COB as "one of the most prestigious models in the world".

She has modelled for major brands and has been on the cover of world-leading magazines.

"It's a great pleasure to be part of this beautiful journey of our athletes to Paris 2024," she said.

"I've loved following Brazil at the Olympic Games since I was a little girl and I love seeing our athletes shine in their various sports.

"Therefore, I am very happy and flattered to be able to support them closely in this very important moment.

"We are going with everything and much success for Team Brazil."

Other godfathers and godmothers for the Brazilian team include actress and singer Larissa Manoela, surfer Pedro Scooby, presenter Sabrina Sato, singer Wesley Safadão and YouTuber Casimiro Miguel.

"We are very happy with the arrival of Murilo and Fernanda in this group," said COB marketing director Gustavo Herbetta.

"Undoubtedly, they are two weighty reinforcements.

"Murilo already has a connection with sport since childhood, he already knows the athlete's life, and lives the Olympic values.

"And Fernanda, known worldwide for parading incredible brands, now also represents a very special brand, that of the Brazilian Olympic Committee, which makes more than 200 million Brazilians proud."
