Four new members have been added to the Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) Council, following an online meeting.

Ana Hernández of Bolivia, Martin Peterson of Panama, Francisco Carvallo of Ecuador and Juan Soto of Chile have all been sworn in to their new roles which they took up prior to the PATU General Assembly.

Elsewhere, the management, administrative, financial and auditor reports for 2022 were unanimously approved.

"This is the result of the work of a team that strives every day to ensure that PATU is at the forefront of excellence in America and the world," said PATU President Juan Manuel López Delgado.

"We have started a new era of administrative and financial transparency, where I can say that we have clear finances, direct communication with the member national associations (MNAs) and in which we have developed a circuit of events never seen before, along with an educational and training project."

Ninety per cent of PATU's MNAs were present at the General Assembly.

PATU organised 25 different events in 2022 as its "PATU12" competition circuit made its debut.

Mexico also hosted the World Championships in Guadalajara and topped the medal table, while PATU was named Continental Federation of the Year by World Taekwondo.

"We have maintained direct communication with the MNAs with a response capacity that does not exceed 48 hours, something that never happened and that we will continue to improve," said Mario Mandel, the PATU secretary general.
