The Italians score of 33.800 came through which saw them take the bronze medal, while Spain sealed silver on 34.450.

Brazil did not compete in the three balls and two ribbons final which the Italians won confidently with a performance of their "Ode to Olympism" routine.

Edged by Spain for the all-around gold, Italy was the only nation to reach the podium in both apparatus finals.

France's jazz-inspired performance in the three ribbons and two balls earned them silver ahead of Japan who overcame qualification problems to bag bronze.

All-around bronze medallist Azerbaijan finished fourth in both apparatus finals.

World champion Darja Varfolomeev of Germany won four golds and a bronze in individual competition in Portimão despite undergoing foot surgery late last year.

Her success will no doubt be a confidence boost for the European Championships in Baku next week. 

She led the standings in the hoop, clubs, and ribbon disciplines as well as finishing third in the ball final.

The apparatus triumphs were then capped off with all-around gold for Varfolomeev.

Kazakhstan's Elzhana Taniyeva denied the clean sweep for Varfolomeev as she led a ball one-two with compatriot Aibota Yertaikyzy.

The FIG World Challenge Cup is set to return in Cluj-Napoca in Romania from July 14 to 16.
