Egypt's taekwondo squad has flown to Uzbekistan for a training camp, in preparation for the World Championships.

The team will join their Uzbek hosts for practice in Tashkent until April 30.

Nine athletes have travelled - Seif Eissa, Mustafa Faraj, Ayad Barkat, Rami Issa, Ahmed Rawy, Shahd Sami, Nadine Amr Bozn, Ayah Shahata and Mason Ihab.

Eissa won a bronze medal for Egypt in the men's 80 kilograms division at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

He then repeated the trick with a medal of the same colour in the same weight class at last year's World Championships in Guadalajara in Mexico in November.

This year's World Taekwondo Championships are due to take place in Azerbaijan's capital Baku between May 29 and June 6.

Eissa was the only Egyptian to reach the podium in Guadalajara, although Hedaya Malak also won a bronze in Tokyo in the women's under-67kg.

This was her second Olympic bronze in a row after she won the same medal at Rio 2016 at under-57kg.
