Skip Silvana Tirinzoni led the Swiss to two victories from two today at the Goransson Arena to take their record to ten wins and 0 losses.

They played out a cagey affair in the morning session against Norway, with both sides scoring just one point until the ninth end.

The penultimate period then saw Switzerland explode into life as they recorded a bumper five-point haul to finish as 6-1 winners which clinched qualification.

In the evening, Switzerland faced Denmark in a rematch of last year's European Championship final.

The Danes claimed gold in the November meeting but could emerge victorious again in Sweden as an imperious Swiss side prevailed 7-3.

The victory extended Switzerland's remarkable World Championships win streak to 31.

"We didn't take them lightly, that's for sure," said Tirinzoni.

"They beat us at the Europeans.

"We want to make sure we stay focused and are ready for the weekend.

"It's very important not to get too loose, but it's also very nice to be in this position without the pressure."

Sweden also picked up two wins to move into the sole occupancy of second place as both Italy and Canada lost.

The home nation dispatched Scotland 9-6 and South Korea 7-5 to capitalise on the American 9-7 victory against Italy and Japan's late 6-5 triumph over Canada.

Despite the defeats, Canada and Italy stay in joint-third but with only two games remaining they will need a Swedish slip-up to take an automatic semi-final spot by finishing in the top two.

As it stands, they will instead play in the first knockout round for a place in the final four.

Competition is set to continue tomorrow with the final fixtures in the round-robin stage.
