The Organising Committee has named its recruitment campaign "Don't miss the call!" as it seeks to build-up its workforce for the event scheduled for January 13 to 23 2025.

In a statement organisers said: "As you know, volunteers are the great protagonists of international sporting events: we all remember of the more than 18,000 volunteers who made the Torino 2006 Olympics and Paralympics great and unforgettable, the same happened with the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy in 2011, with the Expo in Milan in 2015 and - on an international level - in Tokyo 2020 or Beijing 2022 as well as in Lake Placid, the last host city of the World University Games Winter.

"Without the volunteers, their uniforms, their passion, the events are less joyful and less experienced: that is why we need you, right from the start, because once the FISU Games in Lake Placid are over, the flag goes home!

"Torino is where the FISU Games were born: in 1959, thanks to Primo Nebiolo, we always called them Universiade, but now we must learn well this new name, younger and more international: FISU Games!"

The Organising Committee is looking to host several events to generate interest in volunteering in the build-up to the Games.

The first of these is set to be Cinema on Ice, labelled as an evening of culture and sport, at the Palavela on February 25.

The arena staged figure skating and short track speed skating at both the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and 2007 Winter World University Games.

It also featured in the 1969 film The Italian Job.
