Olympic champion Oftebro won the men's individual Gundersen with a time of 23min 6sec despite only finishing fifth in the ski jumping section.

He was followed across the line by Johannes Lamparter of Austria 8.1 later while Estonian Kristjan Ilves made up the top three 16.8 off the pace in the 10-kilometres cross-country portion.

First seed Ryota Yamamoto of Japan led the standings after a score of 139.4 in the ski jump.

However, he was unable to finish the cross-country after picking up an injury fairly early in the race.

"It was really good," said Oftebro, speaking about his victory.

"I was good in the jumping hill and also had a good cross-country skiing race with Lamparter in front.

"I'm happy with my strong sprint so, yeah, really satisfied.

"I'm getting a lot of confidence and the World Championships are close by which is good."

Meanwhile, Oftebro's compatriot Westvold Hansen was spurred to victory by a leading ski jump worth 134.3 points.

It meant that she finished by a margin of 0.28sec in front of the rest of the pack in the cross-country as she completed the course in 13:49.8.

Germany's Jenny Nowak took silver 1:02.3 behind Westvold Hansen while Yuna Kasai of Japan's 14:57.3 was enough for bronze.

"It was a fantastic day and I am really looking forward to tomorrow," Westvold Hansen said.

Action is set to conclude in Schonach tomorrow with another normal hill Gundersen for both men and women.
