Austria's Franz-Josef Rehrl had a healthy lead of 57 seconds over compatriot and World Cup leader Johannes Lamparter after the ski jumping, scoring 163.1 points from a 143.0 metres effort on the Schattenbergschanze large hill.

Lamparter jumped 132.0m for 148.9 points, while Schmid scored 147.6 from a 134.0m effort to start 1min 2sec behind Rehrl.

In the 10 kilometres cross-country skiing race, Rehrl extended his lead after 2.5km, but Lamparter, Schmid and Norway's Jens Lurås Oftebro closed the gap to 47sec at the halfway stage.

Rehrl defended his lead until the last climb - the Burgstall - when he was caught to ensure the four athletes entered the Ried Cross-Country Stadium together.

It was Rehrl who prevailed in the sprint in 22min 52.7sec, triumphing by 0.7 over Oftebro, who finished second for the second day running.

Rehrl held on to third at 1.0 off the pace, matching his finish from yesterday.

Yesterday's winner Lamparter finished fourth at 1.1 adrift, but still holds the overall lead with 1,045 points.

Schmid climbed to second on 944, followed by Oftebro in third with 924.

Lamparter continues to lead the German Trophy standings too, holding a 1:03 advantage over Rehrl after four of the six World Cup legs in Germany.

Schonach in Germany is set to host a men's and women's double header on the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup.
