Australian Taekwondo (AT) is seeking experienced coaches to join its National Performance Pathway Programme (PPP) and support talented young athletes transition to international success.

The roles are required up until June 2024, with the Paris 2024 Olympics set to begin on July 26.

"The AT PPP is an AT and Australian Institute of Sport funded framework for athletes and coaches, that connects the system from club level through to the podium, delivered through a combination of locally delivered and national centralised activities in conjunction with state association programmes and the national development programme," Australian Taekwondo said in a statement.

"Through the various programme levels AT is looking to support athletes and coaches with the highest potential and dedication to progress.

"Throughout the framework the key emphasis is to focus on individual athlete and coach progression through building upon current strengths, enhancing weaknesses, developing individual identity and holistic personal development.

"Directing and supporting the implementation will be several key staff, all reporting through the AT Performance Pathway Lead and where required the AT National Performance Director.

"These staff are responsible for performance pathway plans and tasks including building individual performance plans, liaising with home coaches, working with State Institutes of Sport and tertiary providers across the country, and much more."

Coaches will be selected to support the AT Performance Pathway Centres in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, working together to implement the PPP at the local level.

Successful candidates are required to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of contemporary high-performance taekwondo at a national and international level, demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team to deliver high quality training programmes to athletes under their direction, and have experience working with young athletes.

Applicants must be prepared to travel interstate and work weekends and non-traditional hours as required.

Applicants are required to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment.
