The Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation (THF) has said that "peace is more precious than triumph" in a New Year message to its members.

The THF was founded by World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue and was officially established in 2016 in Lausanne, Switzerland, with the aim of teaching the sport to refugees and displaced individuals.

In a New Year message the THF said: "Happy New Year to all the family.

"Thank you all for your involvement, your participation and your support!

"Remember that ‘peace is more precious than triumph’, because if taekwondo is about more than winning, it is about ethics, discipline and respect."

One of the highlights of 2022 for the THF came in October when President Choue visited its flagship project at the Azraq Refugee Camp in Jordan.

In what was his first visit to the site since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Choue described the success at the Azraq Camp as "a benchmark for the THF, and also a benchmark for the wider Olympic family as we strive to improve the daily lives of refugees like yourselves through sport."
