The National Olympic Committee of Timor-Leste is focusing on future events following its fifth Annual General Assembly.

The meeting took place at the Hotel Novo Turismo in the capital city of Dili and was attended by 19 National Federations.

Delegates discussed preparations for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games set to take place in Phnom Penh in Cambodia from May 5 to 17 and the postponed Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games due to run from September 23 to October 8.

The governing body is looking to enhance training development for coaches and sports administrators at the Games.

The General Assembly also saw the Archery National Federation's acceptance as the newest member of the NOC.

Members then approved the NOC's activity plan and financial accounts from 2022 that were presented by the secretary general and treasurer, respectively, with the first report accepted unanimously.

"The National Federations appreciated the work of the NOC and recommended that the activities in 2023 should focus more on athletes and sports development," read an Olympic Council of Asia statement.

Timor-Leste has won three gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games in addition to eight silvers and 26 bronzes.

The country has yet to win a medal in the Asian Games in its five consecutive summer appearances from Busan 2002, after gaining independence from first Portugal in 1975 and then Indonesia in 2002, to Jakarta Palembang 2018 and its solo winter appearance at Sapporo 2017.
