World Taekwondo's demonstration team proved to be a huge hit here as excitement builds towards next week's World Championships.

A large crowd gathered outside Guadalajara Cathedral in the historic centre of the city to watch the team's Mexican-themed display yesterday.

The performers produced an array of board-breaking skills with flying kicks, flips and somersaults to thrill the spectators.

They also swapped their taekwondo uniforms for traditional Mexican clothing after unveiling the country's flag on stage to the delight of the crowd.

The performance comes just a few days before Guadalajara hosts the World Taekwondo Championships.

The Opening Ceremony is due to be held on Sunday (November 13) at the Centro Acuático CODE Metropolitano where the demonstration team are set to perform again before competition is scheduled to start the following day.

"After having arrived on November 9, we had our first performance in downtown and it was thrilling to see the amount of crowd gathered, their excitement and how much people enjoyed it," said Ilhan Na, head of World Taekwondo’s demonstration team.

"Once performance was done we had so many request from the audience to take pictures together and got told how much they loved it that we were so touched and grateful to the citizens in Guadalajara.

"We are planning to deliver a great performance during the World Taekwondo Championships Opening Ceremony on November 13 so we hope people is as excited as us for it."

World Taekwondo's demonstration team also put on a display at last month's Association of National Olympic Committees Awards in South Korean city Seoul and performed in front of 40,000 people at the famous Duomo Square in Italian city Milan in May.

The team have become known around the world after appearing on the Got Talent series of television shows.

They reached the final of America’s Got Talent and also appeared on the Italian and French versions of the show.

Guadalajara is set to stage the World Taekwondo Championships from November 14 to 20.
