Jana, who won the women's épée category B titles at Athens 2004 and London 2012, upset Georgia's world number one and former world champion Irma Khetsuriani in the final of the women's sabre category B.

Khetsuriani was participating following her World Cup triumph at the opening event in São Paulo in Brazil.

He defeated Tokyo 2020 silver medallist and top seed Richárd Osváth to progress to the final where he beat Poland's Michał Nalewajek.

Osváth and Britain's Oliver Lam Watson claimed bronzes for the event.

Medals continued to fall for Britain in the men's foil category B as Paralympic bronze medallist Dimitri Coutya triumphed over France's Maxime Valet on his seasonal debut.

The bronze medals went to Ryu Eun Hwan of South Korea and Laurent Vadon of France.

Marta Fidrych of Poland won her second successive title in the women’s category A following her victory against South Korea’s Kwon Hyo-kyeong.

Yu Chui Yee, a multi-time Paralympic champion, achieved third place alongside France’s Brianna Vide.
