Fifteen fights took place at the EFC Performance Institute today and only three made it as far as the judges’ scorecards.

Women’s flyweight competitors Bianca Stander of South Africa and Angola’s Esperanca Pereira fought a tough first bout, but Strander prevailed in round two with a devastating rear-naked choke submission.

Fellow South African Nicole Van Wyk beat compatriot Nadia Terblanche with a decisive chokehold in the second round to book the other spot in the final.

The other all-South African bout of the day saw Mischka Laubscher defeat Carissa Botha with yet another chokehold in the first round in the women's bantamweight. 

The men's featherweight division was full of excitement, with two consecutive knockout finishes.

Veja Hinda of Namibia’s finished his opponent from Mauritius, Geraldo Moïse, with a walk-off head kick.

Following that, South Africa’s Nioclaas Vermaak thwarted Angola’s Elizandro Sousa with a spinning attack in the first round.

Both Hinda and Vermaak will meet in a highly anticipated final bout.

In the lightweight division, Zimbabwe’s Lewis Mataya secured his place in the final with a technical stoppage versus Geraldo Bok of Namibia.

He will meet Ken Nyaondo in the final after the Zambian beat Tulunda Daniel of Angola by unanimous decision.

Later in the middleweight division, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Elyse Balepe knocked out Garcia Kinkela of Angola with one second left on the clock. 

All eyes will be on his final bout tomorrow against Kinkela’s team-mate, Elisio Zua.

Day two concluded with the competition's first light-heavyweight bouts.

South Africa’s Zhane Tannous gave a grappling masterclass against Angola’s Enoc Emilio Kakesa and eventually subdued his opponent with a triangle chokehold. 

Tannous will meet Kakesa’s Angolan team-mate, Stanislau Kakesse Wezy, in the final tomorrow.

The IMMAF Africa Championships are due to conclude tomorrow.
