Germany's Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi were dominant in today's two-woman bobsleigh, winning the gold medal at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games at the Yanqing National Sliding Centre by 0.77 seconds.

The pair finished after four runs with a combined time of 4min 03.96sec, beating compatriots Mariama Jamanka and Alexandra Burghardt.

Nolte, only 23, became the youngest pilot to win a bobsleigh gold medal since 1932 when American Billy Fiske became an Olympic champion.

"I can't believe it, I have no words," said Nolte.

"I had one mistake at the bottom, but I knew when we came out of the [corner] 6 that we won."

Levi added that it had been "two crazy days" over the four runs.

"It's been two long days, crazy emotions, nervous, afraid, also very excited.

"I think we can sleep very well this day."

Elana Meyers Taylor won her second medal of the Games - after taking monobob silver - with the American finishing third, 1.52 seconds off the pace of Nolte, partnered by brakewoman Sylvia Hoffman.

The top five was completed by the third German Kim Kalicki and Christine de Bruin of Canada.

Tomorrow's third and fourth runs in the four-man event will end competition in sliding events at Beijing 2022.
