Season 4 of the International Swimming League (ISL) has been announced, with the league starting on June 3, 2022.

The first game of 24 will see NY Breakers against Cali Condors, Aqua Centurions and London Roar.

Title holders Energy Standard will start their defence the following week versus Cali Condors, LA Current and Tokyo Frog Kings.

Toronto Titans and DC Trident get their season underway in match 3 whilst Iron compete in their fist game in match 4.

The regular season schedule consists of 15 matches and the teams playing six times each.

The final fixture is scheduled for October 2.

A wildcard match follows where the team’s ranked seventh to 10th will compete for the final two playoff spots.

The first five playoff matches will be held in North America whilst Europe will host the following 11 fixtures.

Athletes will be given a 52-day break between the fifth and sixth matches of the regular season, due to be played on July 3 and August 25.

The playoffs, due to be played between October 22 and December 4, will consist of six matches and a wildcard fixture for those ranked from third to sixth.

The first half of these games will be set in North America with the next half set to be held in the Asia Pacific region - a first for the ISL.

The final, hosted in North America, is scheduled to take place on December 22.

Konstantin Grigorishin, the founder and President of the International Swimming League, commented that spectators can expect changes to Season 4’s format.

"Last year we introduced ISL’s and swimming’s first ever draft," he said.

"This season we are preparing some very exciting innovations to our format, which will make ISL’s matches even more unpredictable."

The ISL was established in 2018 and the first season was launched the following year.

Energy Standard won the inaugural title and Cali Condors prevented them from repeating the feat in the 2020 season.

The new season is likely to be hotly contested again with Energy Standard searching for their third ISL triumph.

Konstantin Koudriaev, chief executive of the ISL, added the new season will see them "focus on ensuring that the quality of ISL’s production matches the extraordinary performance of the ISL swimmers".
