Peru finished top of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Online Youth World Cup medals table as three athletes took the nine titles on offer on the eighth and final day of the tournament.

First, Peru jumped back to the top of the medals table thanks to three gold medals won by Estrella Saldarriaga in the women's 81-kilogram division.

The closest battle for a title she faced was in the snatch, sitting neck-and-neck with Colombia's Paola Franco heading into the final lift, but Saldarriaga managed a successful attempt at 92kg.

Franco could not go one better at 93kg, settling for silver with a best of 90kg, while Valeria Henriquez of Venezuela took bronze with a best of 80kg, winning the medal on countback after finishing level with Chinese Taipei's Hsin Hsiu Wang.

The clean and jerk was a more comfortable affair for the Peruvian, who finished with a best of 117kg, while Franco failed twice at 113kg.

The Colombian would lose the silver to Mexico's Vanessa Ramirez who was steady throughout, finishing with a best of 111kg to Franco's 110kg - enough for bronze.

Saldarriaga would also take the overall title with a total of 209kg to Franco's 200kg, while Ramirez was a distant third with a score of 189kg.

Czech Dominik Oracko also won all the gold medals on offer in the men's over-102kg, starting with a dominant performance in the snatch - lifting a best of 160kg.

Poland's Igor Osuch was a distant but comfortable silver medallist with a best of 146kg, ahead of Mexico's Jesus Manuel Medina who lifted 142kg after starting near the back of the field on the opening round.

Oracko had a second gold in the bag within his first lift of the clean and jerk, impressively clearing 192kg, but could not break the 200kg barrier on two attempts.

Kazakhstan's Zhanali Tuyakov was consistent, eventually lifting 179kg to beat Osuch to the silver, after the Pole struggled to go past 177kg.

That meant that in the overall contest, the Czech weightlifter was a clear winner, with a total of 352kg to Osuch's 323kg.

Tuyakov's performance in the clean and jerk saw him sneak into the overall bronze medal with a total of 319kg - one ahead of Chinese Taipei's Zeng Yu Weng who finished fourth in both disciplines.

More Kazakhstani success came in the final event of the night - the women's over-81kg.

Aisamal Sansyzbayeva took a commanding victory in the snatch, recording a best of 107kg.

Behind her was Chinese Taipei's Ling Chen Wang, who required three attempts at 95kg to finally clear the weight - taking a late silver medal.

The bronze went the way of Mia Karolina Gonzalez of Mexico, with a mark of 93kg.

Sansyzbayeva was made to work for the clean and jerk title, recording a final-round lift of 137kg to snatch the gold from Wang, who failed on her last lift.

She instead finished with a best of 135kg for silver, while Gonzalez once again won bronze, this time with a mark of 122kg.

This made the overall title straightforward - Sansyzbayeva took gold ahead of Wang and Gonzalez.

Peru's eight gold medals meant that the organisers of the Online Youth World Cup finished top of the medals table.

Mexico, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan all finished with seven golds and three silvers - but Mexico finished second overall thanks to winning 10 bronze medals.

Kazakhstan won five bronzes to Uzbekistan's two - the latter winning no medals on the last day.

The online event was organised in response to the coronavirus pandemic, which prevented the IWF Youth World Championships - which were scheduled to be held in Lima from November 11 to 18 - from taking place.
