2011_boccia_world_cup_24-08-11August 22 - It was an all Far Eastern affair in the final of the BC1/BC2 category of the CPISRA 2011 Boccia World Cup in Belfast as Korea defeated Japan 8-1.

Britain took bronze with a tiebreak victory against Thailand, and Zoe Robinson said: "The team was very happy to get the bronze medal after beating Thailand.

"However, we were disappointed not to make the final having lost on the final ball against Korea, who then went on to win the final and take the gold we were so close to getting.

"We'd like to get revenge at the 2012 Games."

In the pairs BC3, Greece thrashed Belgium 6-0 in the final, while Portugal took bronze with a 4-3 win against Canada.

Brazil took the gold medal in the pairs BC4 with a 5-3 win over Thailand, whilst the Czech Republic claimed third place, with Canada again missing out as they succumbed to an 8-1 defeat.

Two hundred wheelchair athletes are competing this week at the University of Ulster's Jordanstown campus for a place at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, for which boccia is one of 20 events.
