The museum features a number of items from previous Winter Universiades, such as the mascots and medals from the Almaty 2017, Granada 2015 and Turin 2007.

It also displays items from some of the largest sporting events to take place in Russia, including the torches from the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and the Kazan 2013 Summer Universiade.

There are also a number of exhibits featuring innovative technology.

The Krasnoyarsk 2019 torch is on display with its flame inside a holographic tetrahedral pyramid, with the hologram of the flame transforming into pictures of athletes playing the 11 sports that will be contested during the Universiade.

Visitors can also interact and take photos with the Winter Universiade mascot, U-Laika, using a plasma screen. 

FISU President, Oleg Matytsin, was one of the first visitors of the museum. 

"I find it very symbolic that the museum is located exactly in the university campus," he said.

"This, once again, emphasises that the Games are not just the large-scale competitions, but also a way of educating the youth. 

"It is very important to preserve our history, and in this case not only classic exhibits, but also technological innovations can help."

"It is the interactivity and technological infrastructure that makes this museum unique," added Denis Branchukov, deputy director general of the Directorate Krasnoyarsk 2019.

"Apart from this, there is a collection dedicated to Krasnoyarsk sports.

"We want to show our guests that Siberia has a rich sports history, both in terms of bringing up champions and holding major events.”
