Welsh snooker player Jamie Jones has been suspended by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) pending investigation after allegations arose that he may be connected with match-fixing.

Similar accusations saw compatriot David John suspended in May.

The WPBSA released a statement to say that Jones is alleged to have been "party to, or facilitated the manipulation of the outcome of David John's match with Graeme Dott that was played at the International Championship qualifiers in Preston on September 29, 2016".

The decision to suspend Jones was taken by Jason Ferguson, WPBSA chair and comes into effect immediately.

"Following a WPBSA investigation into alleged breaches of the WPBSA rules by David John, a decision has been taken that Jamie Jones has a case to answer," read the WPBSA statement.

"The WPBSA would like to make it clear that no matches played by Jamie Jones are under suspicion in this matter."

The suspension will remain in effect until the case is closed.

Jones will be required to attend a formal hearing with the WPBSA Disciplinary Committee, but the date and venue for this has yet to be released.

John was removed from the Tour last season after he failed to fully co-operate with the WPBSA enquiry into the match-fixing allegations.

The Welshman was suspended in May alongside China's Yu Delu and Cao Yupeng.
