The current European junior "solo princess" took the win in the solo technical event first, with 92.6551 points at the Duna Arena, four points ahead of Ukraine’s Marta Fiedina in second, before then also beating Fiedina to the crown in the solo free event later.

Between them Subbotina and Fiedina are the two most decorated athletes in the competition.

The two were expected to compete for the gold medal in each event, having been so successful already this season and in previous years.

Subbotina has won three gold medals at the FINA artistic swimming World Series, while Fiedina took two silvers at the recent European Artistic Swimming Junior Championships in Finland after winning four at the same event last year in Belgrade.

The bronze medal in today’s technical final went to Spain’s Irene Jimeno, who finished with a total score of 86.3972 points.

Bronze in the solo free meanwhile went to Japan's Mana Fujiwara
