The task force will facilitate transportation services to and from the 79 stadiums, other venues, media centre, Athletes’ Village and hotels during the games taking place in August next year.

It will do this by coordinating resources from the central and local governments as well as the private sector.

According to Taipei 2017 Organising Committee chief executive Su Li-chiung, meticulous logistics planning is required before, during and after the Games.

An estimated 5,000 freight vehicles and 7,000 staff members are expected to be mobilised during the games.

Logistical preparations for the Taipei Universiade have been in the works for three years and a “Universiade Logistics Manual” outlining the overall operating plan has been compiled.

It includes opinions from experts and scholars in logistical-related fields.

Lauding the innovative services provided by the Organising Committee, the International University Sports Federation (FISU) has stressed that the manual will serve as a valuable source of reference for future Universiade host cities.

Earlier this week, it was announced that the construction of venues for the Universiade is on schedule.

Just under a quarter of the locations have already been completed for the event scheduled to be held between August 19 to 30 next year.

After numerous visits by FISU and International Technical Committee (CTI), the Taipei City Government has invited four other municipalities and 14 universities to co-host the event.

Of the nearly 60 venues being used for various competitions, 14 have already been completed.

The first to be finished was the Taipei Gymnasium which will play host to all of the badminton competitions during the event.
